Voice Your Opinion – Literally

I have a guilty pleasure of keeping up with celebrity gossip. TMZ is one of the best sources for all things Hollywood. I noticed today that you can not only add comments your can now record you comments! Another great source of entertainment – you can literally listen to what other people have to say about Britney, Paris and Lindsay. Love it! It is worth a few laughs at the least… and does give us insight into another advancement in web 2.0!

What is Web 2.0?

What do you know about Web 2.0? If you’re like me, you’ve heard the phrase, but you don’t know what it really means. So, don’t be left in the dust – you need to get educated. Check out OReillynet.com this is one of the best resources on the net – in fact they coined the phrase Web2.0! This site really helped me understand why Web 2.0 is important, not only to the future of TV but, to the future of all business.

Better SEO writing for our web

We need to address our writing of slugs, labels, tags, story titles, and web posts. At the moment there is very little that is current about our 10News web presence online. I entered "kgtv 10News" into YouTube and found the following video second from the top. Ongoing and updated posts paired with better SEO writing should fix this.

Netvibes

Hi. My name is Leila. I am the Senior Promotions Producer at 10News. Part of my job is to get hip to the happenings of web 2.0. How is the internet working to make life easier for users? My initial search landed me on the site netvibes.com. It has changed my concept of a homepage and streamlined the way I search my favorites. All your favorite sites, widgets, RSS feeds and even your email inbox are saved and displayed on one page! Your modifications are saved in real-time and you can access your personalized page from any computer. It is VERY cool and it was named as one of the 50 best websites by TIME magazine.

Just vlog baby

Online video is great but making the conversion from TV to web requires some undersanding of video compression as well as an awareness of what your host will be able to handle. YouTube is a monster, everyone knows about it but at times doesn't look so good. I like blip.tv. It is easy to use, the player can be branded or un-branded, and the video just looks better to me. I think the tutorial at freevlog.org is a very useful tool to get started. Click here and see for yourself.
